Help Save Matthew: 25 Year-Old Newlywed Diagnosed With ALL

Matthew Schreindorfer and Katia Luciani are two newlyweds who are together for better or worse. After they got home from their honeymoon on June 19, 2014, Matthew started to develop many symptoms- exhaustion, flu-like symptoms, abdomen pain, night sweats, fever, etc. which led the doctors to believe he caught a virus from their vacation in the Caribbean. After several different diagnoses and a final test, a biopsy of his liver; he matthewwas confirmed with his final diagnosis in August 2014. He had cancer called Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

He has gone through all feasible treatments in Canada (three aggressive chemotherapy treatments + clinical trial treatments) and all three failed to bring him into remission. His doctors advised that the only hope of saving Matthew is for him to be admitted for the CART-19 clinical trial that is only offered in the United States. His family is working with Diligently Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute in New York. The treatment will range anywhere from $600,000 – $800,000 dollars.

His family is reaching out to help fund this surgery. The donations will help for the costs incurred for hospitalization, treatment and related medical costs. They have started fundraising money on YouCaring where you can donate money. So far they have raised over $400,000.00

If you live in the Montreal area, there are two events being held in order to raise funds. Wednesday, February 25th, 2015 at ROSALIE’S. The second event is Sunday March 15th, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Zante Central.
